Why Nuclear

Nuclear energy is Maryland’s most important energy resource, providing 23 percent of electricity generated statewide and 81 percent of carbon-free energy. As Maryland works to meet its climate and energy goals, the state’s strong nuclear energy footprint – including both traditional and advanced technologies – will be the key to unlocking the clean energy transition and supporting future economic growth. In America – where air pollution is responsible for around 100,000 premature deaths each year and costs the U.S. $1 trillion per year – our future depends on our country embracing power sources like nuclear that release no harmful pollution or carbon emissions into the air we breathe.
